Данная статья посвящена изучению падежной системы греческого языка, причин и
предпосылок возникновения и эволюции дополнительных функций винительного падежа в греческом
языке.

The given article deals with the study of the Greek case system, causes and preconditions for the
emergence and evolution of the additional functions of the accusative case in Greek. Over thousands years of
evolution the Greek case system has undergone numerous changes. Accusative case of the Greek case system is
the most multifunctional one. It is often used in colloquial speech. In this connection different aspects of its use
need thorough explanation as part of the Greek language syllabus. Systematization of information on additional
functions of accusative case will allow students to overview and comprehend the case system of the Greek
language and the role of accusative case in it. The aim of the work is to study the case system of the Greek
language diachronically, analyze the appearance of additional functions of accusative case as a result of
interaction of katharevousa and demotic. For this purpose we 1) described the Greek case system diachronically
taking into consideration the interaction and contrast of the case systems of katharevousa and demotic;
2) analyzed the current state of the Greek case system and accusative case; 3) gave the description of additional
functions of Greek accusative case. As a result the following conclusion has been made: accusative case is the
most important case of the Greek case system. As a multifunctional case it is very often used in the colloquial
speech. This fact is viewed as stimulus for investigating additional functions of the case and the implementation
of the research results in the process of studies.
