Comparing three post communist countries (Poland, Ukraine and Russia) with one prosper Western country(the Netherlands) we tried to test two hypotheses. The first one is the hypothesis of Ronald Inglehart who claims that the new political division based on the differences of values has stronger impact on voting behavior (intention to vote for the Left) than education and social class. The second hypothesis is the statement that the members of “new” middle class has interests which induce them to vote for the Left wing political parties more often then those who belong to the “old” service class. The analysis clarities differences in quality of democracy between all four countries in focus. The most of Left oriented ekectoral choices in any case besides Russia is the “political culture”.As to Russia such a predictor is “social class”.
