Jewelry, cult-household and household products made of biomineral formations, minerals and rocks are encountered in burials of medieval nomads of Eastern Europe. These products were most frequently made of biomineral formations, minerals were less frequent and rocks were very rare. Among biomineral formations coral, pearls and amber seem to have been in greatest demand. Among minerals decorations made of lazurite (lapis lazuli), rock crystal and minerals of quartz group (cornelian, chalcedony, agate) prevail. The most popular rock was limestone. In the Middle Ages there were extensive transcontinental links, which is corroborated by the appearance of kauri shells and obsidian far from places of their widespread occurrence and stone deposits.
