Методические проблемы исследования средневековых стремян

Abstract

Рассматривая системы классификации и типологии средневековых стремян, нельзя не заметить их многочисленные различия и противоречия, что, безусловно, затрудняет интерпретацию материала, мешает новым, более узким определениям, уточнениям в хронологии и систематике. Поэтому, на наш взгляд, стоит предпринять попытку разобраться в особенностях методик анализа стремян евразийской степи VIII-XIII вв., начиная с принципов описания формы.

This paper critically reviews studies devoted to the systematization of medieval stirrups. The problems of terminology especially when describing separate morphological elements, the design of the top part of a stirrup and its outline have been discussed. Two basic approaches, complex and descriptive have been used in the description of a type and of an individual copy. According to the first approach, the description is composed of separate characteristics for each of the signs. For convenience, each description is assigned a unique marking code. The second approach is based on association concepts. A researcher allocates the most important sign, whose name usually becomes a marker.
