Анотація:
Aims. The article deals with the Biosafety System of the Republic of Belarus in context of international conventions and protocols on GMO development and use. Results. The Biosafety System of the Republic of Belarus is elaborated taking into account properties of national legislation and state management. It covers all stages of GMO development and use: from research in closed systems, over risk assessment under the first release of GMOs into the environment to commercial use in agriculture and industry, taking into account GMO import, export and transit, as well as GMO monitoring, storage and utilization. Control over genetically modified ingredients in Belarus is based on testing all products containing soybean and maize. Conclusions. The Biosafety System of the Republic of Belarus is based on international agreements of our country, properties of national legislation and state management. The legislation problems associated with acceding Belarus to the Customs Union with Russia and Kazakhstan, and creation of the Euro-Asian Economical Union are emphasized.
