Досвід країн АСЕАН в умовах адаптації західної та ісламської моделей банківських систем

Abstract

Досліджено особливості співіснування західної та ісламської моделей функціонування банківських систем на прикладі країн-учасниць АСЕАН. Проведено порівняльний аналіз досвіду банківських реформ у країнах Асоціації. Аргументовано, що держави об’єднання перебувають на різних етапах розвитку банківських систем, найрозвиненішими з яких є банківські системи Сінгапуру, Малайзії та Індонезії. Апелюючи до реалій економічної інтеграції в азійському регіоні, автори стверджують, що розвиток інтеграційних процесів сприятиме конвергенції банківських систем країн АСЕАН.

Исследуется специфика сосуществования западной и исламской моделей функционирования банковских систем на примере стран-участниц АСЕАН. Проведен сравнительный анализ опыта банковских реформ в странах Ассоциации. Аргументировано, что государства объединения пребывают на разных этапах развития банковских систем, наиболее развитыми из которых являются банковские системы Сингапура, Малайзии и Индонезии. Апеллируя к реалиям экономической интеграции в регионе, авторы утверждают, что развитие интеграционных процессов поспособствует конвергенции банковских систем стран АСЕАН.

The article reveals the specifics of Western and Islamic banking models coexistence in the ASEAN member states. It is argued that the long period of ASEAN operation has not led to greater convergence in national policies of the Association member countries, which is clearly demonstrated by their banking systems. The authors single out two groups of countries – the developed and less developed states that joined the Association at later integration stages. Development differences of the ASEAN members allow for the banking systems analysis in these two groups in order to identify their operational and development characteristics. It is claimed that the development of banking systems in the ASEAN countries has not been covered by single concept due to their independent evolution. A comparative analysis of banking reforms in the Association countries indicates that the states are going through diverse stages of their banking system development led by Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Appealing to economic integration realities in the Asian region, the authors argue that integration intensification contributes to the ASEAN banking systems convergence. In the process of globalization, international financial institutions are being in active search of the new regions for rapid expansion. However, due to poor development of national banking systems and opportunities for high returns in the future, the Asian region is the most attractive for investments in the medium term.
