In woodless steppes of the Tselinograd region (Kazakhstan) South Courvus cornix L. and C. frugilegus L. are forced to nest in biotopes unusual to them. Corvus cornix L. is a more plastic species, a considerable amount of its representatives inhabit floodplains shrubberies, prefering Lonicera tatarica L. shrubs. Some pairs make their nests on deserted buildings of people. Corvus frugilegus L. find no conditions to create greate colonies and settle in groups on littoral shrubberies. One colony of C. frugilegus L. is found on a heap of branches cast ashore during high water.
