Благодійні ініціативи Терещенків у соціально-гуманітарному просторі Глухова: лікарня св. Єфросинії

Abstract

У другій третині XIX – на початку XX ст. поступальний успішний розвиток цукроварень Терещенків та максимізація їхніх прибутків сприяла зламові мотиваційної складової діяльності цих підприємців: від задоволення особистих потреб до їхнього соціального спрямування. Наслідком такої діяльності родини Терещенків стала зміна соціально-гуманітарного простору Глухова. Мета та наукова новизна комплексного та узагальнюючого дослідження полягає в заповненні існуючих інтелектуальних прогалин сучасної історичної регіоналістики та мікроісторіографічного наративу, на основі як опрацювання періодичних видань, так і першоджерел ЦДІАКу, ДАЧО, ДАСО, ЦДА Москви щодо особливостей меценатської діяльності Терещенків у Глухові у другій половині XIX – на початку XX ст. Методологія дослідження ґрунтується на принципах історизму, об’єктивності, аналізу, а також історико-генетичному, історико-порівняльному методах. Висновки. Для буржуазного прошарку, у традиційному ще тоді християнському українському суспільстві, було нормою, згідно Божих заповідей, опікуватися бідними, знедоленими, каліками. Це стало однією з причин, яка спонукала Терещенків почати займатися меценатством у Глухові. Одним із феноменів соціальної відповідальності Терещенків у рідному місті стало, з-поміж іншого, заснування безплатної лікарні св. Єфросинії (1879 р.), яка знаходилася у віданні «Імператорського Людинолюбного Товариства» й передбачала надання допомоги насамперед незаможним верствам населення міста Глухова та Глухівського повіту без різниці в чині та званні. Медичний заклад утримувався на щорічні відсотки (3–4%) з основного недоторканого капіталу й мав надійний фінансовий фундамент та гарну матеріальну базу, що протягом років сприяло створенню умов для його успішної діяльності. Характер та обсяги «Звітів про діяльність Лікарні св. Єфросинії у Глухові Чернігівської губернії» говорять про те, що за короткий час лікарня стала найпопулярнішою в місті благодійною установою. Після смерті її фундаторів – Федора (15.06.1894) і Ніколи (19.01.1903) – цей медичний заклад знаходився під опікою їхніх нащадків-попечителів, членів багаточисленної родини Терещенків, і продовжував стабільно функціонувати до Жовтневого перевороту 1917 р.

In the second third of XIX – early XX c. the progressive successful development of Tereshchenkosʼ sugar factories and the maximization of their profits contributed to the breakdown of the motivational component of the activities of these entrepreneurs: from meeting personal needs to their social orientation. The consequence of such activities of the Tereshchenko family was a change in the social and humanitarian space of Hlukhiv. The purpose and scientific novelty of the study is to fill the existing intellectual gaps of modern historical regionalism on the basis of processing periodicals and primary sources of Central State Historical Archive of Kyiv, State archive of Chernihiv region, State archive of the Sumy region, Central State Archive of Moscow on the peculiarities of Tereshchenkosʼ patronage in Hlukhiv in the second half of XIX – early XX c. The research methodology is based on the principles of historicism, objectivity, analysis, as well as historical-genetic, historical-comparative methods. Conclusions. For the bourgeoisie, in the traditional Christian Ukrainian society of that time, it was the norm of the worldview to take care of the poor, the disadvantaged, the crippled, as God commanded. This was one of the reasons that prompted the Tereshchenkos to start patronage in Hlukhiv. One of the phenomena of social responsibility of the Tereshchenkos in their hometown was, among other things, their creation of a free hospital of St. Yephrosynia (1879), which was run by the «Imperial Philanthropic Society» and provided assistance primarily to the poor, regardless of the rank and title of the city of Hlukhiv. The medical institution was maintained at an annual interest rate (3–4%) of the fixed intact capital and had a solid financial foundation and a good material base, which over the years contributed to the creation of conditions for its successful operation. The nature and scope of «Reports on the activities of the Hospital of St. Yephrosynia in Hlukhiv, Chernihiv Province» says that in a short time the hospital has become the most popular charitable institution in Hlukhiv. After the death of its founders – Fedor (15 of June, 1894) and Nikola (19 of January, 1903) – this medical institution was under the care of their descendants, trustees, members of the large Tereshchenko family and continued to operate permanently and stably function until the October Revolution of 1917.
