Київський антирелігійний музей першої третини 1930-х рр. (Володимирський філіал Всеукраїнського музейного городка)

Abstract

Статтю присвячено Київському (Всеукраїнському) антирелігійному музеєві – філіалу Державного культурно-історичного заповідника «Всеукраїнський музейний городок», що функціонував протягом першої третини 1930-х рр. у Володимирському соборі. Наведено перспективний план експозицій музеєфікованого храму на підставі тогочасних публікацій, архівних документів, фотографічних знімків та збережених інвентарних книг заповідника; реконструйовано зміст виставкових груп, відтворено музейні тексти та окреслено склад історико-культурних і мистецьких пам’яток, використаних у експозиційній діяльності Володимирського філіалу. Залучено до наукового обігу маловідомі візуальні джерела з історії київського музейництва першої третини 1930-х рр. з колекції Національного заповідника «Києво-Печерська лавра». Проілюстровано основні технології політизації музейної справи й методи антирелігійної пропаганди за радянських часів.

The article deals with the Kyiv (All-Ukrainian) Anti-Religious Museum, which functioned during the first third of the 1930s in Volodymyr Cathedral. The church was decided to close and turned into an anti-religious museum by a resolution of the All-Ukrainian Central Executive Committee of the UkrSSR on August 5, 1929. The organization of the newly-formed museum center was entrusted to the All-Ukrainian Museum Town – a historical and cultural preserve on the territory of nationalized Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery. The actual work on the organization of the branch began at the beginning of 1930. Pavlo Karpenko was appointed the head of the Kyiv Anti-Religious Museum and prepared the «Prospectus of the organization of the All-Ukrainian Anti-Religious Museum (in Volodymyr Cathedral) with details of the location of the museum exposition». Publications in the press, archival documents, photographs, and preserved museum inventories allow claiming that the staff of the Volodymyrskyi branch of the All-Ukrainian Museum Town during almost three years was trying to implement the project of anti-religious cathedral museification, sought to satisfy the Soviet authorities’ demands to turn museums into «instruments of revolution» and «weapon on the anti-religious front». Despite the fact that Pavlo Karpenko’s «Prospect» was never implemented, the branch off ered a number of exhibition groups for visitors: «Volodymyr Cathedral in the pay of the tsarist regime», «Church trade», «Religion and medicine», «Art in the pay of the of the church», «The Cult of Barbara», «The Cult of Volodymyr», «The Origin of Human Being». The museum displays were dominated by textual explanations – slogans, shields, boards, and banners of tendentious propaganda anti-religious content. The exhibits of the anti-religious museum, in addition to the original liturgical utensils and decorations of Volodymyr Cathedral, were monuments removed from St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery in Kyiv, the Church of the Tithes, the Great Cave Church, as well as items previously included in the collection of All-Ukrainian Museum Town (the Lavra Cults and Life Museum). Some objects of historical and cultural heritage were vandalized by visitors of the Kyiv Anti-Religious Museum. After the liquidation of the branch, all museum value objects were transferred to the main All- Ukrainian Museum Town collection, a number of monuments were lost in 1934 and 1935 – sold through the «Intourist» chain.
