У статті висвітлено сторінки життя земського лікаря Г.Ф. Влайкова, проаналізовано його
дослідну роботу у вивченні охорони здоров'я населення, простежено науково-педагогічну діяльність
медичного фахівця.
This article talks about the life of talented doctor H. F. Vlaikov, shows his research work which studies of
public health, highlights a scientific and pedagogical activity of the medical specialist.
The materials of the leading archives, libraries, museum and other state institutions were used to write
this research. Also, the histories Dr. H. F. Vlaikov’s descendants helped for writing this article.
According to the information of descendants, H. F. Vlaikov was born in a Bulgarian settlement Tvardytsia
of the Bessarabian province in the family of an Orthodox priest. In his youth, he started to work in organizations
of the zemsky healthcare,where he was devoting most of his labor way. In Soviet period of time, he worked
mainly in positions in the Kyiv provincial and district healthcare departments.
In zemstvo period Heorhii Fedorovych began teaching a sanitation and hygienein medical colleges and
then, in Soviet time, he started lecturing in Kyiv institutions.
At the same time he was research of various spheres of public health. It should be emphasizedthat his interest
to research work was appeared in his student years and didn’t leave his whole life. H. F. Vlaikov wrote
more than 70 scientific works on various topics in branch of healthcare and the history of zemsky medicine.
Also at different times he was co-editor in medical journals. However, the life of an outstanding doctor was
prematurely ceased after a long illness and he was buried at Lukianivske cemetery in of Kyiv city.
Finally, for the years of his life, he earned trust not only among ordinary citizens, but also among medical
doctors who respected him as a highly professional specialist. By the way, H. F. Vlaikov shared his practical
skills with a young generation of medical workers, he educated a pleiad of talented medical personnel, who
continued the work of his teacher and mentor, and for him it was the highest reward.
