Фольклористично-етнографічна діяльність Василя Горленка

Abstract

The article contains a detailed biographic essay about folklore and ethnographic activity of outstanding journalist, writer, ethnologist, collector, art historian and public figure Vasyl Horlenko. He collaborated with famous contemporaries of his epoch, especially Mykola Kostomarov, Porfiriy Martynovych and others. The investigator gives rich archive material, in particular ‘Kievskaya Starina’ publications. It proves that Horlenko had a powerful influence on Ukrainian cultural life at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
