Визнання регіональної культури: Бретань після Французької революції

Abstract

Apparu à la fin du XVIIIe siècle, l’intérêt des élites pour une culture populaire de tradition orale prend une tournure plus revendicative dans les années 1830, qui culmine en 1839 avec la parution du BarzazVBreiz de La Villemarqué. La controverse qui entoure l’ouvrage, au milieu des années 1860, aboutità la définition d’une méthodologie plus rigoureuse de traitement des documents oraux et à une réflexion sur la nature même d’une culture populaire. Puis, néoVdruidisme, régionalisme et nationalisme de la première moitié du XXe siècle n’auront qu’une audience limitée. Enfin, on assiste au spectaculaire renouveau des années soixanteVdix, qui conduit aujourd’hui à un réel engouement pour une culture désormais reconnue et partagée par un grand nombre, toutes générations confondues.

The elites’ interest towards popular culture of oral tradition arose at the end of the 18th century and was increasing till 1830s with a climax in 1839 caused by the emergence of “BarzazVBreiz” by La Villemarqué. The discussion of this work in the middle of 1860s led to the elaboration of more rigorous methodology for the treatment of oral documents and to reflections on the nature of popular culture. Moreover, in the first half of the 20th century neoVdruidism, regionalism and nationalism gained only a limited interest. Finally the spectacular revival of regional culture in the 1970s leads to a real fashion for culture nowadays which is recognized and shared by a great number of people of different generations.
