Abstract

The article discusses Margaret Archer's morphogenesis theory by which she attempts to avoid both structural and agency reductionism, as well as to make a synthesis. From this perspective, the author analyzes the main concepts and tools of Archer's theory — such as analytical dualism, cultural and structural elaboration, emergence and emergent properties, morphogenesis cycle, etc. — as well as their heuristic potential.
