The free cytoplasmic Ca²^+ content and Ca²^+-dependent protein kinase activities are investigated in membrane and cytosolic fractions of rat colonocyte under the development of an experimental model of colitis-associated carcinogenesis. The increase of free endocellular Ca²^+ by 2 times as compared with control during the formation and development of colon inflammation is shown. It is established that enzymes of Ser-Thr phosphorilation mediate ulcerative colitis-associated carcinogenesis. These enzyme activities increase and reach their peak values in cytosol in the second week for protein kinase C, the fourth one for Ca/calmodulin-depenent kinase, and the tenth week in the membrane fraction.
