The short story is dedicated to the problems of art, unhappy marriage and unrealized ambitions presented with the help of multilevel oppositions and contrasts, symbolic details and anthroponyms. Living her life as an imitation of another person’s life the heroine dies. The failure of her imaginative life causes her death in reality.
